Fact:
I like to use #9 wire attached directly to the cable (snare) because it provides a “primary” hold to the cable. This means I don’t have to rely on my steel nut or aluminum button stop to hold the cable during a fight. With the #9 wire wrapped tightly back on itself and the cable coiled tightly into this “wrap-back” it is unlikely that the cable will pull through the #9 wire enough for the nut or stop to engauge.
Also, with #9 wire firmly attached, not only do I have a safe means of anchoring my snare, but I also have a built in way to support my snare in almost any position.
